A Zebroid is a broad term used to describe the offspring of any cross between a zebra and another equine animal. Typically, the stallion is a zebra in these cross-breeding situations. Depending on the specific cross, they are sometimes called zedonk, zorse, zebra mule, zebmule or zonkey. When a zebra is used for cross-breeding purposes, a form of dwarfism typically occurs. This type of breeding never takes place in the wild and because of this, the offspring of often times infertile.
Zebroids tend to resemble their non-zebra parent but with zebra-like strips. The strips are usually limited to one part of the body, such as the legs, neck or part of the body. Zebroids are preferred over zebras for riding purposes. However, they do pass down their wild animal characteristics to their offspring and can be very temperamental.
