Wiltshire Horn is a breed of domestic sheep originating in Wiltshire, England. One of the older English breeds, Wiltshire Horn sheep were among the most popular breeds of sheep in England until the 18th century. This breed is considered atypical amongst English breeds since it molts its short wool and hair coat each spring, removing the need for shearing. Both rams and ewes are horned, with ram horns growing one full spiral per year until it reaches maturity.
Wiltshire Horn ewes are excellent mothers with high fertility rates. All Wilshire Horn sheep are white although some have dark spots on their undercoat. Today, this breed is popularly raised for meat, since they do not require shearing and purebreds can reach slaughter weight by 16 weeks of age.
