Wagyu is a term that means Japanese cow. So Wagyu refers to all breeds of Japanese beef cattle. Wagyu were initially used in draft animals used in agriculture, chosen for their physical endurance. This created the intense marbling that you can find in their meat.

Wagyu is a horned breed and the cattle is either black or red in color. Slaughter age is very early being around 28-30 months old. The taste of Wagyu beef is described as a tender and buttery texture that melts in one’s mouth. This unique flavor has led Wagyu beef into Gourmet restaurants worldwide.

Not only Wagyu beef is delicious but it it’s healthier and more beneficial for consumption due to the fact that its content of mono-unsaturated fat to saturated fat ratio is higher.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one!
