Tula geese are one of two breeds of Russian fighting geese and considered very rare. They were developed as a cross between Western Greylag geese and Eastern birds descended from swans. Tula geese have a unique appearance with a short, parrot like beak that extends directly from its forehead. They are a medium sized bird, with ganders averaging 23 pounds and geese weighing 18 pounds.
Tula geese are used for geese fighting, which is a strange sport that involves no bloodshed. These birds will fight in a similar fashion to sumo wrestlers, grabbing and pushing at each other until the loser is pushed away.
Tula geese are often confident, calm birds.
