The Red Brangus breed is a result of mating Black Angus cows with Grey Brahman bulls in the early 1930’s in Texas. This naturally polled breed is medium to large in size and predominantly red in color. The higly maternal females show calving ease, have good udders and remarkable milk production. Bulls of this breed have heavy muscles and the calves are very resistant. They’re known for disease resistance thanks to their thick hide and they also display longevity and docility.
This breed has the ideal genetics for subsisting in tropical and sub-tropical regions, existing even in South America and South Africa. Red Brangus females weigh around 1,100 lbs and mature bulls can weigh up to 2,000 lbs. Their red coloring eliminates their risk of pink eye and sunburned udders, which allows the cattle to forage under extreme heat, characteristic that dubs them as “The Original” heat tolerant cattle.
