Easter Egg is a term used to describe multiple types of chickens, all of whom produce colored eggs. While not recognized as an individual breed by the American Poultry Association, its name is inspired by the colorful eggs that are reminiscent of Easter eggs.
Easter Egg chickens are of the same descendants as Araucana and Ameraucana chickens but no longer fit either breeds specific standards. Easter Egg chickens come in almost every variety and color, although most have muffs and pea combs. Typically, they are a smaller bird that is popular in backyard flocks since they lay blue, green and/or pink eggs.
