The Chinese goose is a breed of domestic goose that is descendant of the wild swan goose. They can be differentiated from wild swan geese by their larger bodies and pronounced basal knob at the upper side of their bill. The knob is often used for gender differentiation since it is more pronounced on males than females. There are two accepted color varieties, brown and white.
Chinese geese are one of the best goose breeds for egg production. They can average 50 – 60 eggs per breeding season, which is approximately February to June. There have been reports of Chinese geese laying up to 100 eggs per season also. They are a close cousin of the African Goose, sharing many characteristics.
