The Checkered Giant Rabbit is a breed developed in Europe and is commonly known there as “Giant Papillon”. They are considered show rabbits but have also been used for meat production. They can weigh up to 12 lbs or more.
The Checkered Giant rabbits are distinguished by their defined markings. A difference in markings exists between a European and an American Checkered giant. They have a white coat with black or blue colored markings, and do well with a diet of rabbit pellets and timothy hay. They have a slender, muscular build with an arched back and short hair.
They’re known to have a docile temper and are playful and energetic, needing plenty exercise. It’s beneficial to note that they do not do well in high or low temperatures.
