cameroon-sheepA rare breed of sheep, the Cameroon sheep originate in West Africa and are considered hair sheep.  Their hair coat produces an undercoat in autumn that sheds yearly in springtime. Their color is brown with a black belly, head and legs. They do not require shearing.

The Cameroon sheep are very fertile and reach puberty very early.  They produce two lamb crops per year and are known to be resistant, small in size and require little management. Ewes are naturally polled and rams display strong horns and ruff.

Rams can weigh between 80 -110 lbs and ewes between 66-90 lbs. The can live between 10-12 years and are mostly used for meat since they produce a red meat that tastes more game-like than conventional mutton.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one! And while we do our best to ensure only the top farmers are listed here, it's always best to double check yourself.
