A rare breed of sheep, the Cameroon sheep originate in West Africa and are considered hair sheep. Their hair coat produces an undercoat in autumn that sheds yearly in springtime. Their color is brown with a black belly, head and legs. They do not require shearing.
The Cameroon sheep are very fertile and reach puberty very early. They produce two lamb crops per year and are known to be resistant, small in size and require little management. Ewes are naturally polled and rams display strong horns and ruff.
Rams can weigh between 80 -110 lbs and ewes between 66-90 lbs. The can live between 10-12 years and are mostly used for meat since they produce a red meat that tastes more game-like than conventional mutton.
