Primarily found in Latin America, the Burro is a small donkey that has been used primarily as a pack animal and the largest population of them can be found in Mexico. The word “burro” means donkey in Spanish but it is also used to refer to the untamed donkeys found in Arizona, California, Oregon, Utah, Texas and Nevada.
The Mexican Burro is grey in color with male Burros weighing at an average of 269lbs., and females around 247 lbs. They are between 34-47 inches in height. The Burros in USA tend to be larger than the Mexican ones and they are all characterized by being patient, slow and sure-footed to the point of obstinacy and “stupidity”.
