BrahmanThe Brahman cattle are a breed of zebu cattle that are characterized by a large hump over the top of their shoulders and neck. They also have large horns that typically curve upward, large drooping ears and dewlap with a large amount of excess skin.

Originally imported to the United States from cattle breeds in India, Brahman cattle are one of the most popular breeds of cattle meat in many parts of the world. In India however, Brahman cattle are considered sacred and cannot be consumed, slaughtered or sold. Throughout history, these cattle have been exposed to extreme weather, parasites and inadequate food supplies, which have caused them to develop amazing survival skills. They out live many other cattle breeds as well, often producing calves at 15 years or older.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one! And while we do our best to ensure only the top farmers are listed here, it's always best to double check yourself.
