Andalusian is a breed of domestic donkey that is native to Spain and is one of the oldest breeds of donkey in Europe. It also goes by the names Asno Cordobes and Asno de Lucena since it is said to have originated in Lucena, Cordoba.
Andalusian donkeys are quite large, with males reaching up to 5.2 feet at the withers and females up to 4.9 feet. They have a short coat unlike other Spanish breeds and are a pale grey/whitish color. While the Andalusian donkey is a strong donkey, its temperament is calm. They were once used predominately for transport and farming but today, are considered quite rare. Conservation efforts are being made to increase their population.
