The American Buff is a breed of domestic goose native to the United States that is named after its single color variety. American Buff geese are always a very pretty apricot or fawn color, not actually buff. They are a medium sized bird used for both meat and egg production. Known for their calm, quiet personalities and good mothering abilities, they are most often used by smaller farms. Today, the American Buff goose is an extremely rare breed and is considered critical by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. Like many other breeds, it is a descendant from the Greylag goose and appears European is body style.
