white-holland-turkeyKnown for its all-white plumage, the White Holland is one of the older breeds of domestic turkeys.  It was developed by crossing white European turkeys imported to North America with native turkeys. In the first half of the 1900s, this breed was the only commercial white bird available.  Its lack of dark pinfeathers made it extremely popular, despite being a smaller bird than the Bronze turkeys.  This breed appears with snow white feathers and a red to blueish head.  Standard accepted weights are 25 pounds for a tom and 16 pounds for a young hen.

In the 1950s, White Holland was crossed with the Broad Breasted Bronze to create the Broad Breasted White, which has become the most common turkey breed in the world.  White Holland was also the foundation for the development of the rare, Beltsville Small White breed.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one! And while we do our best to ensure only the top farmers are listed here, it's always best to double check yourself.
