The Silver Appleyard ducks are a large and sturdy domestic breed with a prominent breast. When full grown, they can weigh between 6 to 8 lbs. Drakes have a yellow/greenish colored bill, a chestnut red breast, flank, sides and shoulders with white “frosting” and a silvery white underside. Drakes’ wings are gray and white with a bright blue cross stripe, bronze tail feathers and orange feet and legs. Females of this breed are white with several brown and grey markings, having a yellow or orange bill with a black bean on the tip and yellow or orange legs and feet.
Silver Appleyard ducks lay large or extra large white eggs and they have a docile temper, always staying close to home. They are currently raised for exhibition, pets, decoration, egg production and gourmet roasting ducks. They are great egg layers capable of producing 220-265 eggs and their meat is flavorful.
