The Magpie is a lightweight breed that can weigh 4 to 5 lbs. Named after their distinctive plumage which is predominantly white with a colored cap on the top of the head and a large colored patch from shoulders to tail. It is a long bodied bird with a long orange-yellow bill.
These ducks have a nearly upright stance and their standard color varieties are either black or blue. Yearly, they lay between 220-290 medium-large white eggs. They are active foragers eating grass, seeds, insects and even aquatic life. They eat so much that they produce abundant gourmet quality meat.
Magpies are active birds with high strung tempers but they are generally docile with people. Magpies aren’t capable of sustained flight but can propel themselves over a 2-3 foot wall if scared. The drakes have a high libido so there should only be 1 drake for every 5 ducks.
