magpie-duckThe Magpie is a lightweight breed that can weigh 4 to 5 lbs. Named after their distinctive plumage which is predominantly white with a colored cap on the top of the head and a large colored patch from shoulders to tail. It is a long bodied bird with a long orange-yellow bill.

These ducks have a nearly upright stance and their standard color varieties are either black or blue. Yearly, they lay between 220-290 medium-large white eggs. They are active foragers eating grass, seeds, insects and even aquatic life. They eat so much that they produce abundant gourmet quality meat.

Magpies are active birds with high strung tempers but they are generally docile with people. Magpies aren’t capable of sustained flight but can propel themselves over a 2-3 foot wall if scared. The drakes have a high libido so there should only be 1 drake for every 5 ducks.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one! And while we do our best to ensure only the top farmers are listed here, it's always best to double check yourself.
