The Lipizzan (Lipizzaner) horses are a breed highly esteemed for their talents in classical dressage. They are able to demonstrate “haute école” (high school) movements taught by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna in Austria. This is also known as the “airs above the ground”. Developed in the 16th century they’ve been endangered many times till made famous by Disney in “Miracle of the White Stallions”. Since then, they have appeared in many shows, movies, books and other media.

Only 8 stallions are recognized as the foundation bloodstock. They are generally gray in color and are born either bay or black, becoming lighter each year. Lipizzaners stand between 14.2-15.2 hands but can be taller. They have a long head and small ears with expressive features. Being a Baroque-type horse, they have a high set tell and strong, defined legs. They tend to mature slowly but are known for their longevity.
