german-angora-rabbitGerman Angoras are English Angoras that have been selectively bred in Germany over the last 80 years with a focus on quality and quantity of wool. In 1920, angoras typically produced 200 grams of wool a year and by 1963, German Angoras were surpassing 1000 gm/year. In 1999, the 2000 gm/yr mark had been passed, again by German Angoras.

The German Angora has a calm, relaxed, and placid personality. These traits have been selectively bred for centuries in order to groom the rabbit properly. The coat is very dense and requires regular maintenance: twice a week if the coat texture is correct, and daily if it is cottony or easily matted.

The majority of German Angora are ruby-eyed white or albino, weighing between 4.4 – 12 lbs.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one! And while we do our best to ensure only the top farmers are listed here, it's always best to double check yourself.
