DevonThe Devon cattle are an old breed of cattle developed in the English country of Devon. They are medium sized cattle that are ruby red with black-tipped, white horns. They can be a dual purposed animal, which increases its maternal abilities. Today, it is primarily raised for its superior meat although its popularity has decreased with the demand for faster growing breeds. These slower to maturity, grass fed cattle produce a higher quality meat though.

Devon cattle have a reputation for being easy to keep and hardy, able to thrive on rough forage. This breed is often referred to as North Devon in order to distinguish it from the South Devon, a recently developed breed that is yellowish brown and not related.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one! And while we do our best to ensure only the top farmers are listed here, it's always best to double check yourself.
