Also called Bashkir Curlies, the Curly horses come in all colors, sizes and body types. The breed carries a gene for their unique curly coat. They are known for their calm, friendly, smart personality, and are easy trained. They are reasonable, reliable, vigorous and don’t resort to flight. Their hair can be minimally curly, maximally curly or extreme with variations in between.
They have split manes and are mostly chesnut colored but can be bay, black, grey or have appaloosa markings, etc. The hair they shed can be donated to the ICHO Fiber Guild. They are the only hypoallergenic horse breed.
They have a long stride and gallant movement. With tough hooves, strong bones and high endurance, Curlies can stand between 14 – 16 hands. They can also be miniature or draft horses. They can be used in arena events, competitive and endurance trail riding
