A domestic breed, the Clun Forest sheep originate in England and are characterized by being good foragers, hardy, adaptable and long-lived. Ewes lamb easily and are good mothers. They have creamy off white fleece, short-medium length wool and dark brown faces.
Considered a multipurpose breed, they are kept for meat, wool and milk production. Their mutton is high quality and their wool is free of black fibers being excellent for hand spinning. They have and alert and stylish appearance with a strong neck. Their limbs are wool free. Ewes usually birth twins and their milk has some of the highest butterfat of any sheep breed.
Rams can weigh between 175-200 lbs and ewes between 130-160 lbs. They are top choice for hobby farmers since they thrive on grass and have a high resistance to parasites.
