ChianinaChianina is one of the oldest breeds of cattle as well as the tallest and heaviest breed today. Mature bulls can stand almost 6 feet tall and have been known to exceed 3,500 pounds. Native to Italy, these cattle were originally considered a draught breed and have a recorded history of at least 2,200 years. Today, they are a popular breed throughout the world raised primarily for their superior quality meat and high growth rate.

Chianina cattle can put on up to 4.4 pounds per day. The famous Italian dish bistecca alla fiorentina is made with meat from the Chianina. They are always white with a black switch and are known for their gentle disposition and heat tolerance. Chianina cows are very poor milk producers, barely sufficient for suckling.

We always strongly encourage you to thoroughly check out each animal breeder you are interested in purchasing from before you make your final decision. With over 25,000 different breeders listed on this website, it is impossible for us to be able to vouch for every one! And while we do our best to ensure only the top farmers are listed here, it's always best to double check yourself.
