The SimAngus breed was created from the need to combine the higher qualities of the Simmental and the Angus breed which has resulted in high performance cattle with high market demand. Amongst the fine traits in the SimAngus you can find superior weight gain and muscling, meat yield and quality , calving ease, high fertility and mothering abilities, docile dispositions and are easy to work with either on pasture or on feedlots.
A SimAngus animal must be between 1/8 to 7/8 Simmental and 1/8 to 7/8 Angus or Red Angus but breeders can choose the breed mix percentage to meet their needs. Physically, the SimAngus are either solic black or red in color and all are polled. They have a moderate to large frame, bulls weighting around 2,200 to 2,800 lbs. and cows weigh from 1,100 to 1,500 lbs.
The Sim Angus is highly sought after for their beef having a high market value for their carcass.
