Malay chickens are a breed that originated in Southeast Asia and is said to be one of the oldest breeds of chicken in existence. They have a unique appearance, produce a dense meat and are poor egg producers, leading them to be kept mainly for show or as pets.
Malay chickens have very long legs, often standing three feet tall, with 3 curves in their body at the neck, back and tail. True Malays require a great deal of care as they can be especially fragile, cannot handle cold temperatures well and need a large pen to roam. They can be extremely aggressive with other birds and animals but usually get along well with people. They are often referred to as a dinosaur-esque bird due to their expressions as well as their crow which is reminiscent of a roar.
